Positive Plate Award April 2007

Pho Hot was presented with the Positive Plate Award by the Wichita Dietetic Association in April for featuring lowfat oriental menu options.

The award, which was created by local dietitians, will "highlight restaurants that make healthy eating easy and delicious by following the Dietary Guidelines", according to Jennifer Zuercher, one of the dietitians of the Wichita Dietetic Association involved with this presentation.
"Pho Hot offers multiple vegetarian menu items, along with lean meats and minimal fried food options," stated Alicia Ramey, another spokesperson.

"In addition to lowfat menu options, Pho Hot seasons their entrees with fresh herbs and spices reducing the need for higher sodium seasonings," stated Jenny Scheer, a dietitian involved with the Wichita Dietetic Association.

Pho Hot is located at 2409 E. Pawnee.

Health Tip
Healthy Children are a Family Affair
You can help your children learn to make healthier food choices and engage in regular physical activities by being a good role model. Parents are children's biggest influences when it comes to healthy behaviors, so provide your kids with opportunities for family fun.
Plan regular family activities together.
Encourage children to take up an after-school sport.
Take your kids to the park to walk, jog, inline skate or play catch.
Make walking the dog a fun game by counting how many times the dog stops or how many rabbits or squirrels the dog sees.
Encourage your children to help plan meals, from developing menu to shopping, preparing and serving the meal.
Make sure your kids know they are part of the team and that health and fitness are a family affair. www.eatright.org
