Sedgwick County Local Food System Assessment

The third local food report in a series was released on December 16, 2015. The report was prepared by K-State Research & Extension – Sedgwick County and produced by the Health & Wellness Coalition.

The Local Food System Assessment is a comprehensive analysis of the area food system, from local acreage and the types of food grown to places to buy food and the types of food purchased. It discusses barriers and opportunities for producing more fruits and vegetables in Sedgwick County and offers a vision for the future. The report relies on a variety of data sources for the Wichita MSA, such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics Data, the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System and community conversations with local consumers and growers.
